Mount women's basketball ends four-game losing streak with a 56-51 win at Anderson University

Box Score

Katie Jo Collins (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy) scored 12 points to lead three Lions' players in double figures tonight as the Mount ended a four-game losing streak by winning at Anderson University, 56-51. The Mount, 4-12 overall, 4-6 in the HCAC, is back in action on Jan. 26 at HCAC-foe Bluffton University.

The Lions led by a point at the half, 24-23, and then fell behind by a slim margin early in the second half before turning things around against the Ravens. The Mount took the lead at 34-32 at 10:17 of the second half, and pushed their advantage out to 44-36 with 6:14 to play, thanks to the inside play of numerous players. The Lions ran up a 50-38 lead with 2:48 after Chelsey Doellman (Union, KY/Ryle) made two free throws. Anderson cut the deficit to 52-49 with 44 seconds to play, after a three-pointer, but would get no closer even after two free throws with 19 seconds to play made the score Mount, 54-51.

Brittany Sparks (Solsberry, IN/Eastern Greene) and Shelbi Benzinger (Covington, KY/Scott) each had 10 points for the Mount, while Carolyn Holt (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) chipped in a team-high 12 rebounds and two blocks. The Mount out-shot Anderson, 43 to 29 percent from the field.
