Lions' men's basketball team claim 72-53 home win against Earlham College

The College of Mount St. Joseph bolted out to a 10-point lead at the half and held a double-digit lead throughout most all of the second half en route to a 72-54 home win tonight against Earlham College. The Mount, 3-9 overall, 1-4 in the HCAC, resumes action on Jan. 8 when they play at Defiance College.

Seven different players got into the scoring column in the first half for the Mount, as they out-shot the Quakers 45 to 31 percent in the first 20 minutes of action. The Lions also forced 10 turnovers while committing just eight miscues. The Mount pushed their lead to 13 points, 44-31 just four minutes into the half and never looked back. The Lions won the rebounding battle, 42-41 and forced 26 Earlham turnovers. The Mount held the Quakers to 33 percent shooting in the game.

The Lions had four players in double figures, including Alex Cole (Fairfield, OH/Ross), who had 12 points and team-high 11 rebounds. David Mann (Hamilton, OH/Cincinnati Christian) and Ben Haarman (Cincinnati, OH/St. Bernard) had 14 points each to lead the team while David Lane (Hamilton, OH/Ross) chipped in 12 points and four assists. Haarman also had five steals.
