Host Anderson University got a balanced scoring attack, and a solid all-around shooting performance, as they gave the Lions their first conference loss of the season, posting a 62-49 win. The Mount, 2-6 overall, 2-1 in the HCAC, will be back in action on Dec. 13 when the host a non-conference game against Centre College.
The Ravens grabbed a 26-22 lead at the half, thanks to out-shooting the Mount from the field, 54 to 32 percent, and out-rebounding the Lions, 16-12. The Mount forced nine Anderson first half turnovers, turning those miscues into 11 points while the Ravens out-scored the Lions in points in the paint in the opening half, 18-4. Anderson jumpd out to a 12-1 lead to start the game. Leah Schroeder (Fairfield, OH/McAuley) led the Mount in the first half with six points, hitting two, three-point attempts in her first action of the season.
Anderson would continue to hold control of the game's lead, but had their advantage cut to 43-36 with 10:51 left in the game. The Ravens, however, would parlay strong outside shooting again, along with accurate free throw shooting, into their biggest lead of the game, 54-37 with 7:43 to play, en route to the win.
Anderson would hit 59 percent from the field in the game, to the Mount's 32 percent field goal shooting, while making 13-of-14 free throws to the Lions' 10-of-17 from the charity stripe. The Mount forced 17 turnovers compared to committing 12 turnovers, but were out-scored inside, 30-18. Courtney Cole (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County) led the Mount with 12 points, and also grabbed five rebounds. Four other Lions' players had six points each. Brooke Mosler (Maysville, KY/St. Patrick's) had a team-high six rebounds while Erica Miknius (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had four assists.
