Lions' women's basketball team suffers 62-49 road loss at Manchester College

Host Manchester College forced 21 Mount turnovers leading to 27 points, and the Spartans connected on 49 percent of their shots while holding the Lions to 30 percent shooting today as they posted a 62-49 win. The Mount slips to 2-15 overall, 2-8 in the HCAC and will be back in action on Jan. 25 at conference co-leader Hanover College.

The Spartans jumped out to a 34-25 halftime lead, as they converted 10-of-21 first half shots, and went 12-of-16 from the free throw line. They held a double-digit lead most of the second second half, as the Lions were able to cut the deficit down to eight points twice, the last time with 16:36 left in the game after a basket by Katie Jo Collins (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy). The Spartans forced 21 turnovers in the game as their bench out-scored the Lions' back-up players, 32-18.

Erica Miknius (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) led the Mount with 11 points while Courtney Cole (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County) chipped in eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Leah Schroeder (Fairfield, OH/McAuley) recorded 11 rebounds while teammate Rachel Blevins (Middletown, OH/Madison) added six points and nine boards. The Mount won the rebounding battle, 37-34.
