Mount women's basketball team suffers 85-54 loss at HCAC co-leader Hanover College

HCAC co-leader Hanover College fired in 11 three-pointers and forced 33 turnovers as they recorded an 85-54 home win tonight over the Lions. The Mount, 2-16 overall, 2-9 in the HCAC will be back in action on Jan. 28 when they host Rose-Hulman.

The Panthers scored 51 points in the first half tonight, thanks to nine three-pointers and out-scoring the Lions 12-0 from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes of action. The Mount jumped out to an early lead in the game, but saw Hanover bounce back behind a 32-point scoring effort from their bench to grab a 51-24 lead at the half. The Lions got the deficit down to under 20 points early in the second half, but the Panthers maintained a large lead thanks to holding the Mount to 38 percent shooting in the second half.

Hanover out-shot the Mount from the field 42 to 35 percent, but scored 23 points off Mount turnovers. They were also 11-of-26 from three-point range to the Lions' two-of-16 from long range. They also held a 24-6 scoring advantage from the free throw line. The Mount forced 22 Hanover turnovers while both teams collected 40 rebounds.

Rachel Blevins (Middletown,OH/Madison) and Leah Schroeder (Fairfield, OH/McAuley) each scored 10 points to lead the Mount. Schroeder also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and had two steals.
