The College of Mount St. Joseph collected its second win of the season today, claiming a 3-1 win over Barton College in their first action of the MSJ Tournament. The Lions, who later dropped a 3-1 decision to MSOE, is now 2-11 on the season and will resume action in their home tournament on Feb. 26 when they take on Rust College and Lourdes University.
The Mount defeated Barton, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-10, as three players finish with double-figure kill totals. The Lions' strong hitting attack was paced by Luke Eschenbach (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle), who had 15 kills, while teammate Brad Miller (Convoy, OH/Crestview) and Josh Fisher (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) chipped in 11 kills each. Nick Jennings (Indianapolis, IN/Roncalli) added 33 assists and six service aces. John Dumford (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) had nine digs.
The Lions lost to MSOE later in the day's action, 25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, as Alec King (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) and Eschenbach had 12 kills apiece. Jennins recorded 33 assists and three service aces in the match while Dumford added 10 digs. Fisher had two block solos and three block assists.
