Lions' women's basketball team suffers road loss to Kenyon College in the Marietta College Turkey Shoot Consolation game

Kenyon College raced out to a 13-1 lead in the game, and led by 10 points at the half, as they defeated the Mount, 74-64 in the Consolation game of the Marietta College Turkey Shoot. The Lions, 0-5 on the season, return to action on Dec. 4 when they host Transylvania University in their 2013-2014 HCAC season opener.

Kenyon out-shot the Mount, 43 to 36 percent from the field in the first half, and foced the Lions into eight, first half turnovers, as they coasted to a 42-32 lead by the intermission. The Lions would cut the deficit to nine points early in the second half, but Kenyon pushed their advantage out to 15 points, 64-49 on a lay-up with 8:47 to play. Tara Dennis (Batavia, OH/Williamsburg) helped spur a late Mount comeback attempt, hitting a shot with 2:28 left in the game, to cut the Kenyon lead to 69-60 and teammate Heidi McManus (Bethel, OH/Williamsburg) made a laypup with 1:45 to play to make the score, 69-62. The Lions would get no closer as they scored their final points down the stretch with 36 seconds left to make the score, 72-64, while Kenyon pushed the lead out to double-digits at 72-62 with 47 seconds to play.

The Ladies out-shot the Lions, 42 to 32 percent from the field, and out-rebounded the Mount, 53-47. Brooke Mosler (Maysville, KY/St. Patrick's) led five Lions' double-figure scorers with 12 points and eight rebounds, while McManus, named to the All-Tournament team, added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Dennis recorded a double-double, with 11 points and 11 rebounds. It was her first double-double of the season and the third in her career.
