Men's basketball gets blowout road win at Earlham

Box Score

LOCATION: Richmond, Ind.

THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph coasts past Earlham 84-51 on Saturday afternoon behind a balanced offensive attack to remain alone atop the HCAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions struggled shooting the ball out of the gate against the Quakers. The Mount had only scored three points through the first almost six minutes of the game, and trailed by a score of 8-3. From that point though the Lions began to score the ball almost at will. The defense held the Quakers to 37.5 percent shooting over the first 20 minutes and forced 10 turnovers that led to 13 points. The Mount led by 16 at halftime.

Free throw shooting played a big part in the second half as the Lions entered the double-bonus with more than 9 minutes to play in the game. The outcome was never in doubt during the second half as the lead was never smaller than twenty five.

STANDOUTS
This was another balanced game offensively for the Lions as Travis Combs and Joel Scudder led the way with 15 points each. The Mount saw all five starters score in double figures -- Andrew Finley (14), Erik Edwards (12), and Tyler Manaugh (10).

UP NEXT
The Lions travel on Wednesday to Lexington, Ky. to face off against Transylvania University (5-9, 3-4 HCAC). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
