HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams shot 50 percent from the field in the first quarter and the scoring barrage continued throughout the first half with Lions leading 37-36 at halftime.
The pace of the game remained high through the early parts of the second half, with both teams scoring early and often. Much of the Lions offense came in transition from forced turnovers. The pressure seemed get to Defiance as the game moved along, which helped stretch the lead to 13 with just over 5 minutes to go in the game.
Defiance made a small run to cut the lead to 10, but clutch shooting by Meredith Hartfiel who hit a couple of big three point baskets down the stretch, put the game out of reach.
STANDOUTS
Ciera Phillips had a double-double to lead the way for the Lions, with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Bristyl Webb dropped 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Brilyn Webb scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Hartfiel chipped in 18 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc.
