THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph University (4-12, 3-6 HCAC) was dropped by Transylvania University (11-5, 7-2 HCAC) 82-72.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Brilyn Webb started out the game on fire as she scored 14 points in the first quarter. The Lions came together shooting 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from behind the arc. After a well played quarter the Mount trailed with a score of 26-22.
The Lions kept up with the Pioneers in the second quarter. Trailing by only 4 points at the half.
In the third quarter the Lions kept close with the Pioneers, with a three pointer by Webb cutting the lead to 61-56.
With time winding down in the fourth quarter he Lions battled back from a 10 point deficit, and cut the lead to six with 4:34 to play. From that point on, the Pioneers dominated the play and hit all its free throws down the stretch to extend the lead.
STANDOUTS
Webb led the way for the Lions with 27 points, setting a new record for the Mount in knocking down seven three-pointers. Merdith Hartfiel had 16 points.
