THE BASICS: 
Mount St. Joseph University (5-12, 4-6 HCAC) defeated Defiance College (3-13, 2-7 HCAC) in the first-annual  Mount Madness game 76-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Erica Walsh started out the game on fire as she scored 11 points in the first quarter. The Lions knocked in three of four from behind the arc. The Lions led at the end of the quarter 23-16 and would go on to lead by five at the half.

Lainee Studer came out strong in the third quarter racking up 6 points. The Lions dominated and the crowd went wild when Meredith Hartfiel hit a three to make the score 59-43 with 2:52 minutes left of the third.

The Lions kept the lead the rest of the game.  

STANDOUTS
Walsh led the way for the Lions with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Bristyl Webb had 14 points. Hartfiel had 13 points. Brilyn Webb and Studer both had 10 points.

UP NEXT
The Lions will travel to Bluffton University for a 7:30 p.m. game on Wednesday.
