Box Score LOCATION: Alumni Field (Hanover, Indiana)
THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph (2-3, 2-1 HCAC) traveled to conference rival Hanover saturday, and came away with a 42-6 victory. The win helped the Lions move to 2-1 inside the HCAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions received the games opening kick-off, and were able to score on the games opening possession. The Lions were driving to begin the game when it looked like the drive may stall out. They were facing a 3rd down and 8, from their own 47 yard line. But after a penalty on Hanover made it a much more manageable 3rd and 3. Then Chaiten Tomlin connected with Garret Weaver on a 48 yard touchdown strike. The two Lions continued their stellar play from a week ago where they connected for 3 touchdowns.
With 6:51 to play in the first half the Panthers connected on their second field goal of the half pushing the score to 7-6 in favor of the Lions. The Lions though were able to answer almost immediately. As they were able to 79 yard in 8 plays on the very next possession to score a touchdown. The drive was capped off by a 2 yard run by Mike Williams. The teams would goto the half time break with the score 14-6 in favor of the Lions.
The second half of the game would be dominated by the Lions, as Kenny Thornton picked of a pass on Hanover's first possession of the second half. It would be the Panthers first of the three second half turnovers. All of which would lead to points for the Lions.
The Lions defense pitched a shutout in the second half, holding Hanover scoreless over the final two quarters. Even more impressive was the fact that Hanover never ran an offensive play in Lions territory in the second half. The final score would stand 42-6 in favor of you Mount St. Josesph University Lions.
STANDOUTS:
Chaiten Tomlin continued stellar play at the Quarterback position for the Lions, completing 12 of his 22 pass attempts for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns. But most importantly he was able to limit the mistakes with zero interceptions.
Weaver had another big day, his second in a row. Catching 5 balls for 85 yards and 2 scores. Pushing his season total to 6 touchdowns, rebounding after a slow start to his Junior campaign.
Defensively Kenny Thorton led the way with two interceptions, to go along with 3 tackles.

The Lions play host to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology(4-1, 3-0 HCAC), in a game of HCAC heavyweights the Lions will be looking to hand Rose-Hulman their first HCAC loss of the season. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 PM kick-off next saturday at Schueler Field.
