The Mount St. Joseph University Lions Football team has won two straight games to ease what was a lackluster start to the season. One would think the Lions are happy with the two wins but quite the contrary. The program faces a tough test this Saturday as the Engineers from Rose-Hulman come to Schuler Field. The Engineers sport a 4-1 record and are 3-0 in the HCAC.
"Huge man!" said Head Coach Rod Huber. "This is a huge test for us. Everywhere Rose-Hulman goes the lightning strikes. They are really good, fundamentally sound, and very smart. If we do not come to play we will ride the lightning to a defeat. No more tears, no more looking for rainbows in the dark, and no more practices that have looked like gutter ballets. This is a game of tooth and nail. It's all about executing and fighting on every down and for every yard. It's going to be a tough one!"
The offense has started to wake up in the last few weeks but offensive coordinator Tom Grippa says the unit still has a ways to go. "We need to execute better, run the ball better. This team this week can really prey on your weaknesses and make you pay for your mistakes. We have to play a great game this week. I told the offense that the margin of error was far less than it has been in weeks past. We'll see if they respond. If not, it could be a slave to the grind kind of day.
Kickoff is set for 1:30 on Saturday. The game will be simulcast on msjsports.com.
