Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball drops first conference match

THE BASICS:
The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball could not build on a one-set lead and lost three straight sets against a defensive-minded Benedictine (7-6, 3-0 MCVL) team on Friday night in the Harrington center. The loss is the first for the Lions (6-4, 2-1 MCVL) in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions won set one despite only hitting .059, but the five team blocks were enough to give the Lions the edge. From then on the Benedictine defense swallowed up the Lions attack, racking up 55 digs in the match. The Lions had just 40 digs, but 13.5 blocks to Benedictine's 11.

STANDOUTS
Alex Vohland led all players with 21 kills. Jake Neiheisel had 3.5 blocks and Lyle Lehmann had 10 digs. Zach Kuebler had 2 aces.

The Lions take on No. 11 Dominican at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Harrington Center.
