THE BASICS:
No. 12 MSJ (9-5, 4-2 MCVL) posted two conference wins against Adrian College and Olivet College before rolling against non-conference opponent Marymount University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions dominated winless MCVL opponent Adrian of Friday, winning 25-13, 25-11, 25-14. The Lions hit .469 for the match, and 12 players saw court time. The Lions added 10 service aces.
On Saturday the Lions overwhelmed Olivet College 25-16, 25-8, 25-10, hitting an impressive .524 on the match and adding nine blocks and five service aces.
In the second match on Saturday the Lions dominated a tough Marymount University (9-5) team that had received votes in the national coaches poll. The Lions had nine total blocks and six service aces to 12 errors.
"It was a solid home weekend," said head coach Ryan Lengerich. "That's a very talented Marymount team that is so well coached and very offensively minded with terrific middles. We finally put it all together for one match and executed the game plan. The setting was fantastic and the hitters and blockers finished plays. We should feel good about how we played."
STANDOUTS
Nathan Herdeman had 32 assists, five kills and three block assists against Marymount while Alex Vohland had a game-high 11 kills and just one error in 20 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. Jake Neiheisel added 8 kills on 11 attempts and six block assists.

The Lions travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on No. 4 Nazareth College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
