Lainee Studer drops 13 points as the Mount St. Joseph defeats Anderson

THE BASICS
The Lions (7-13, 6-7 HCAC) defeated Anderson University (3-17, 2-11 HCAC) 66-40 to remain in the race for a postseason spot.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mount St. Joseph jumped out to a first quarter lead 18-8 with a three pointer from Meredith Hartfiel who led the team with 5 points in the quarter.  

Erica Walsh came out strong the second quarter scoring 5 points in just 2 minutes and helping the Lions to a 37-19 halftime lead. Walsh was the top scorer with a total of 9 points in the half.

Lainee Studer had an outstanding second half scoring 7 points and shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. As a team the Lions shot 83 percent on 10 of 12 shooting from the line.

STANDOUTS
Studer led the Lions with a total of 13 points and 6 rebounds. Hartfiel was right behind her with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Walsh had a total of 9 points. 

UP NEXT
The Lions will play Rose-Hulman at home on Saturday at 4 p.m.
