Box Score DELHI, Ohio -- Mount St. Joseph entered Wednesday night as an underdog to conference powerhouse Bluffton, who was second in the conference with an 8-2 record in HCAC play. The Lions did not look to be phased against the Beavers to start the game, surrendering only two points to Bluffton in the first quarter. They also outscored their opponents in the second quarter, taking a 21-14 lead into halftime.
At one point in the third quarter Mount St. Joseph pushed their lead to as many as 12 points. However, near the end of the third quarter Bluffton started to make a run to get back into the game. By midway through the final quarter of play Bluffton had taken control of the game. This, however, was not due to lack of effort by the Lions, who fought admirably for the entire game with only seven healthy players. Down the stretch the lack of bodies proved costly for the Lions, as the minutes piled up and fatigue set in for their players.
