Lions fall to Manchester during Mount Madness

DELHI, Ohio -- Saturday was Mount Madness on the campus of Mount St. Joseph but the Lions could not pull out a victory for the home crowd.  However, the Lions battled hard and played in a game that stayed within a few possessions for its entirety.  Brooklynn Sturwold (North Bend, OH / Mercy) kept Mount St. Joseph in the game in the first half, scoring the first 9 points for the home team as well as 16 of the 23 total first half points for the Lions.  After trailing 28-23 at halftime the Lions were unable to get much offensive momentum going in the third quarter.  As the game was nearing its conclusion the Lions made a late comeback push but the Spartans were able to stop it and pull away, winning the game 58-45.

GAME NOTES

  • Brooklynn Sturwold (North Bend, OH / Mercy) had a great game, scoring a game-high 18 points and leading the team with 6 steals.
  • Emily Townsend (Dillsboro, IN / South Dearborn) was in double digits yet again for the Lions, scoring 12 points on 4-10 shooting.
  • The Lions played great defense all game, forcing 17 Manchester turnovers.

The Lions have another HCAC showdown on Wednesday as they travel to Anderson.  Tipoff is set for 7:30.
