Haberthy Drops 30 against Anderson in Lions Win

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph faced Anderson in a hard fought HCAC matchup. The game started as a close contest between both teams. The Lions would be ahead 27-25 going into the half. The Mount came into the second half determined to hold their lead. They were able to outscore Anderson 41-32 in the second half, totaling 26 points in the fourth quarter to give them the win 68-57. 

How it Happened:

It was another close game against a conference competitor for the Lions, as the score stayed close in the first two quarters. At the end of the first quarter the score was tied 10-10 with both teams looking evenly matched. The Mount was able to take a two-point lead going into halftime with the score at 27-25. Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH Little Miami) lead the Lions in scoring in the first half with 13 points. The Mount came out of the locker room determined to take home a win. They outscored Anderson in the third 15-13, led by freshman Maddie Haberthy (Cincinnati, OH/ Mother of Mercy) who scored 10 of the Lions 15 points that quarter. This gave the Lions the lead 42-38 going into the final quarter. Haberthy took the game into her own hands scoring 16 points in the fourth to push the Lions into a comfortable lead. The Mount would end up defeating Anderson with a final score of 68-57.

Standouts:

Maddie Haberthy had a monster game for the Lions with a 30-point performance, scoring 26 in the second half. She also ended the game with a total of 5 steals and 3 assists to help push the Lions ahead of Anderson. Lainee Studer was also able to make an impact with 13 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists in the Lion's win.

Up Next:

The Lions (5-3, 2-1) will continue conference play next Saturday, 12/6. They will face Earlham (1-6, 1-2) in the Harrington Center at 2:00 PM.
