Mount St. Joseph finishes regular season off with a win at Earlham

RICHMOND, Indiana-- The Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team traveled to Richmond, Indiana to take on the Quakers or Earlham College in their HCAC regular season finale. The Lions put the finishing touches on a very good regular season, finishing the season with a 19-6 record. 

The Lions got off to a quick start as they scored the games first 10 points, the first 6 coming on a pair of three-pointers by Bobby Murdock (Cincinnati, OH/ Anderson). The Quakers would get back into the game quickly as they outscored the Lions 15-5 over the next 5:00 minutes tying the score at 15 all. In a game full of runs the Lions would return the favor going on an 11-0 run of their own. The run was capped off by a Jake Cropper (Georgetown, OH/ Georgetown) three. From that point on the Lions would dominate the first half action taking a 40-25 lead into intermission. 

The Lions were led offensively in the first half by Andrew Finley (Cincinnati, OH/ Walnut Hills) who scored 11 of his team high 19 points in the first half. Murdock added all nine of his points in the first half. 

It was much of the same in the second half as the Mount would lead by double-digits for the entire half. They continued to stretch their lead throughout the half, culminating in a 30 point lead on a couple of occasions in the half. 

The bright spot for the Lions in the second half was Adam Goetz (Erlanger, KY/ St. Henry) who had been out of the lineup until the Hanover game. Goetz got going in the second half scoring 12 points making three shots from distance. 

In all four Lions were in double figures in the scoring column, led by Finley (19) and Goetz (12). Joining them in double figures was Erik Edwards (Cincinnati, OH/ Roger Bacon) with 16, and Tyler Manaugh (Madison, IN/ Madison) with 15 off the bench. 

The Lions will take to the court again next Saturday at 7:00 PM in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. They will take on the winner of the Manchester Vs. Anderson match-up.
