Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Indiana- Mount St. Joseph would again find themselves trailing late in the game. And again they would find a way to come away with a victory. The resilient Lions have battle back from double digit deficits twice this week. This game would require them to go into overtime to get the win at Rose-Hulman 76-68.
The early portion of the game was tightly contested, as the teams traded baskets in the early going. Rose-Hulman would pull away a bit as they went on a 9-2 run to take a 7 point lead. Rose would maintain their lead until the final minutes of the half. The Lions gained their first lead of the game with 1:15 to play on an Andrew Finley (Cincinnati, Oh./ Walnut Hills) layup. Rose-Hulman would make two free throws in the final seconds to settle the first half score 31-30.
The Fightin' Engineers opened the second half on a 13-4 run to push their lead to a game high 10 points. The Lions would begin to chip away at the lead, getting themselves back into the game. They finally knotted the game again with 2:45 to play on a layup by Finley. The teams would trade buckets over the next few possessions, knotting the score at 60 all as regulation expired.
The match-up would require overtime to decide a winner. The Lions would outscore Rose-Hulman 16-8 in the overtime period to come away with their 12th conference victory of the season.
Andrew Finley was huge for the Lions in this game, scoring 29 points. It was Finley's 6th 20 point game of the season. Erik Edwards (Cincinnati, Oh./ Roger Bacon) added 17 points of his own and Jordan Henry (Lexington, KY./ Bryan Station) pitched in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mount will take to the court again Wednesday, as they travel south on I-75 to take on the Pioneers of Transylvania. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 PM.
