The Basics:
Mount St. Joseph faced a tough matchup against HCAC competitor Rose-Hulman. The Fightin' Engineers were able to take the lead after the first quarter and held on to it throughout the first half. The Mount trailed 37-26 going into halftime. The Lions fought hard in the second half, but were not able to regain the lead as they were defeated with a final score of 74-52.
How it Happened:
The Lions started off strong in the first quarter led by junior guard Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH/ Little Miami). She was able to score 7 points in the quarter to keep the score close between both teams. The Mount would end the first quarter trailing Rose-Hulman 16-13. In the second quarter, Rose-Hulman was able to get their offense going. They outscored the Lions 21-13 to take a large lead before halftime. The Lions would trail 37-26 going into the second half. The Mount worked hard in the third quarter to decrease the deficit with multiple players producing on offense. Rose-Hulman was still able to maintain the lead going into the final quarter of play with the score at 56-44. The Lions fought hard, but were not able to decrease the lead and were defeated with a final score of 74-52.
Standouts:
Studer had a monster game as she was able to lead the team in multiple stat lines. She led the team in scoring with 15 points and was able to record 5 rebounds. She also led the team with an outstanding 8 assists.

The Lions (9-9, 5-6) will travel again for their next HCAC contest. The Mount will take on Manchester (5-13, 4-7) this coming Saturday, 1/27. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
