Women's Tennis gets 7-2 win over Manchester

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph women's tennis team continues their season with a 7-2 win over Manchester. This gives the Lions there second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season. 

The Lions jumped out to a quick lead during the doubles portion of the match. The number two and three doubles teams were dominant in their matches. At number two doubles, Erin Kallmeyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and Kelsey Knodell (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) won in 8-1 fashion. In number three doubles Katie Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) and Tessa Mayes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) got the 8-0 victory. Despite losing 8-4 the number one team of Hannah Broermann (Okeana, Ohio/Badin) and Blake Nelson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Amelia) fought hard in their match. 

At number one singles Nelson would again fall, but not without a fight. The Lions would win the next five singles matches to take the match 7-2. The only player who competed for the Lions in singles that did not compete in doubles was Jessica Berger (Milan, Ind./Milan). Berger won her match at number six singles 6-0, 6-1. 

The Lions only have two matches left in the season, both at the Western Racquet Club. On Wednesday, they will take on the Panthers of Hanover. Saturday against Defiance will be the final collegiate match of the careers of seniors Blake Nelson, Hannah Broermann and Kelsey Knodell
