Box Score LOCATION: Millett Hall (Oxford, Ohio)
THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph (0-2) traveled north to Oxford, Ohio to take part in the second day of the Miami Invitational. Where they squared off with the Leathernecks of Western Illinois (1-3) , a Division I foe. The much bigger Leathernecks utilized their size to dominate the Lions on the boards, and make life difficult for them offensively all game long.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
During the early portion of the game the Lions equated themselves well against the much bigger Leathernecks. Junior Devin Young (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) got the Lions off to a good start, scoring seven of the teams first eleven points. His three-pointer at the 15:00 mark of the first half gave the Lions an 11-10 lead, it would be there only lead of the game.
From that point though WIU went on a 20-6 run, taking the game over. They outscored the Lions by 20 over the final 15 minutes of the first half. Taking a 48-26 lead into the break.
The Lions really settled into the game during the second half. Western Illinois continued to try to pull away from the Lions, but they continued to answer the bell. They did so in large part due to improved three-point shooting, as they hit 4-of-6 from deep in the half.
Junior Brady Thomas (Grove City, Ohio/Bishop Ready) got hot for the Lions in the second half scoring eight of his team-high 14 points.
STANDOUTS
For the Lions, three players scored in double figures. Joining Thomas was fellow junior Tanner Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell Co.) and sophmore Avery Paddock (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandia) who chipped in 11 points a piece.

The Lions will square off with with host Miami University, in the finale of the Miami Invitational tomorrow with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM.
