Box Score Lexington, KY- The Mount St. Joseph University Lions, traveled to Lexington, Ky. for a HCAC match-up against the Pioneers of Transylvania. Both teams entered this game with a noticeable difference in the amount of game experience on the season. Transylvania came into this game having 8 games under their belt with an overall record of (5-3), for the Lions this was the opening game of their 2020-2021 season.
Transylvania was able to get out to a hot start, ending the first quarter with a 19-8 lead. At half time the Lions found themselves down by a score of 35-20. The Lions were able to come out of the break hot for their biggest scoring quarter of the game. In the 3rd quarter The Mount outscored the Pioneers 13-15. Unfortunately the Lions were not able to build upon the most competitive quarter on the night, causing the Mount to fall short in their first contest of the season by a score of 66-44.
Despite the loss the Lions did not go down without a fight, Maddie Haberthy and Carlee Daulton had impressive individual games, as both players ended their nights with double digit scoring. Maddie Haberthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy) scored a team high 21 points, 9 of those points coming from the three-point line, while adding 2 steals on the defensive side of the court. Carlee Daulton (Ripley, Ohio/Ripley Union Lewis Huntington) contributed in a variety of ways, adding 11 points to the Lions scoring total, while leading the team in both rebounds and steals. Dalton pulled down 8 boards, while also forcing 3 steals throughout the contest.
