THE BASICS: Mount St. Joseph 0-5 traveled to 2-6 Transylvania with redemption on their mind after Thursday night's heartbreaking defeat. The Lions and Pioneers traded leads early but the Lions could never find their groove. The Pioneers were able to utilize their depth off the bench to secure their edge in this contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions started off strong from the field with a trio of 3-point baskets by Junior David Luers (Lebanon, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick), Junior Devin Young (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham), and Sophomore Avery Paddock (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandria).
Shortly after, the Lions lost their touch with the ball. The Lions dug themselves a hole, going without a basic for 8 minutes in the middle of the first half. At the break the Lions trailed by ten points.
After the break the Lions scored the first 5 points of the half with a pair of free throws from Avery Paddock and a three point bucket from Junior Tanner Clos (Alexandria, Ky.Campbell Co.). Shortly after the Pioneers would take control once again. The Lions failed to give in and fought until the final buzzer, but the final score showed 62-47 Transylvania.
STANDOUTS:
Junior David Luers continued to play well with a team-high 16 points and also contributed on the defensive end with three steals. Two other Lions scored double digits along with Luers. Sophomore Avery Paddock scored 14 points while also grabbing 7 boards and fellow Junior Tanner Clos scored 11 points while grabbing 3 rebounds and earning 2 steals.

The Lions will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to square off against the Fightin' Engineers of Rose Hulman on January 28th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30PM.
