Box Score Franklin, Indiana- Thursday evening, the Lions traveled to Franklin, Indiana to take on the Grizzlies of Franklin College. This game serves as the first of a two game series between the Ball Clubs. The Mount enters this matchup off of an impressive weekend double header against Bluffton where they were able to win two games in back to back days.
To open the game the Lions were able to keep the score tight, ending the 1st Quarter with a 12-12 tie. The Lions offense got its start from senior Maddie Haberthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Mother of Mercy) who scored on an early layup. In the 2nd Quarter the Lions were outscored, 19-11. The 2nd seemed to be the deciding factor in the outcome of the ball game as the Lions found themselves trailing 31-23 going into the half.
Starting 2nd half the Lions found their footing again posting an impressive 18 point, 3rd Quarter. This large scoring output was made possible from a big Quarter from Chloe Jansen (Fort Thomas, KY./ Highlands). In the 3rd Jansen scored 5 points including a made 3-pointer, while Haberthy added 9 points to the Lions scoring total. This left the Lions trailing 49-41 entering the last Quarter of the game. In the 4th Quarter the Lions were not able to keep pace with the Grizzlies, again getting outscored 18-11. The Final Score of this game was a 68-52 loss for the Lions.
All being told the Lions had two players who had double digit scoring efforts. Haberthy finished the ball game with a team high 18 points. On the other hand Jansen posted a double double with 12 points and a team high 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
