Dreying bests his school record while The Lions host 2nd Mount St. Joseph Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Saturday, February 12th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions hosted their second home track meet of the season while one Lions traveled to Otterbein University to compete in the All-OHIO meet. Justin Dreyling (Cincinnati, Ohio/Reading) was the lone Lions competing in the All-OHIO meet but, he made his presence felt. Dreyling broke his own school record in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.93m. At home the Lions had success as well. On the women's side the Lions placed in five events and on the men's side the Lions placed in three events. 

ALL-OHIO MEET
Justin Dreyling was spectacular again this weekend representing The Mount at the All-Ohio meet, at Otterbein University. Dreyling competed in two events the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Dreyling broke his own school record in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.93m earning himself 1st place at the prestigious meet. Dreyling also finished 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 14.00m just short of first place. Dreyling was the only Lion competing at the meet and was able to place 11th out of 18 teams just with his sole performance. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH INVITATIONAL
The women's track and field team had 6 athletes place for the Lions. The Mount got started with a great time of 14:38.90 from the Distance Medley Relay team consisting of Jamie Lenart (Sylvania, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy), Caitlin Biehle (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond), Emily Salmons (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison), and Kayla Hess (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton). Their time was good enough for first place.Freshman Hannah Keith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) was excellent for the Lions Saturday. Keith finished 1st in the 60M Dash with a time of 8.41s and 3rd in the 200M Dash with a time of 28.41s. Fellow Freshman Victoria Barrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Bernard-Elmwood) also placed in the 60M Dash with a time of 8.78s which was good for 4th place. Finally, Kayla Hess placed in her second event of the day with a 3rd place finish in the 1 Mile Run with a time of 6:07.75. 

The men's track and field team also had a productive day with 6 athletes placing in 3 events for the Lions. Like the women's team, the men's Distance Medley Relay team was able to earn The Mount some points. The relay consisting of Alex Schmidt (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills), Jacob Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Clark Montessori), Ty Richardson (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville) and Chayce Helms (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) finished 3rd with a time of 12:16.33. Will Cissell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) was also able to place for the Lions earning 4th place in the High Jump with a jump of 1.75m. Finally, Chase Samples (Lagrange, Ky./Oldham Co.) earned some points for The Mount with a 6th place finish in the 400M Dash with an impressive time of 53.44s.
