CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Saturday, February 25th your Mount St. Joseph University track and field team played host to the 2023 HCAC Indoor Championships. The Lions had 11 different athletes score points including
Justin Dreyling who took home the title in Long Jump. Dreyling was also named the Men's Jump Athlete of the Year after a terrific regular season. The Mount finished 5th on the women's side and 6th on the men's side.
On the women's side, the Lions were dominant in the field.
Kaylyn Mullins got the scoring started for the Lions taking 6th in Pole Vault with a jump of 1.95M. Following her in Pole Vault was
Ashley Klosterman who finished 4th jumping 2.10M. But, the Lions weren't done yet earning a 3rd placer in Pole Vault with Jill Wilhelm taking 3rd place with a jump of 2.25M.
Wilhelm was impressive for the Lions placing in 2 more field events. The freshman took 5th in Weight Throw with a personal best throw of 13.46M. She also took 6th in Shotput with another personal best throw of 11.08M.
Madalyn Hudnall also impressed in the Shotput event. The freshman set a new school record for the Indoor Shotput throw with a mark of 11.40M taking 5th Place. Hudnall also reached her personal best in the High Jump event. Hudnall jumped 1.47M earning 4th Place.
In the track events the Lions placed in 3 separate events.
Ashley Klosterman headlined for the Lions taking 6th in the 400M Dash with a time of 1:03.16. Klosterman was also apart of the 4x200M Relay which earned 5th. The Relay consisted of Klosterman,
Makiya Sherman, Isabella Calhoun and
Grace Holtmeier who ran a 1:55.56. Calhoun was the final Lions to claim points. Calhoun set a new personal best time finishing 6th in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 10.69s.
On the men's side
Justin Dreyling headlined for The Mount. Dreyling claimed the top spot in Long Jump with a jump of 6.90M. Dreyling was also impressive in the Triple Jump finishing 2nd with a jump of 14.28M. The Lions continued to impress in the field events with
Dylan Hammons. Hammons finished just shy of the title in Pole Vault finishing as the runner-up with a personal best jump of 3.35M.
DeAndre Cowen added to the Lions score with a personal best in High Jump. Cowen finishing 5th with a jump of 1.87M.
Chase Samples was the final Lion to secure points. Samples finished in 3rd in the 400M Dash with an impressive time of 51.05s.
UP NEXT: Your Mount St. Joseph University track and field team will travel to Ada, Ohio to compete at the Last Chance Meet at Ohio Northern University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11AM.
