Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Thursday, February 2nd your Mount St. Joseph University men's volleyball team played host to the Saints of Thomas More for their home opener. The Lions battled early but fell to Thomas More in straight sets.
In the first set, the Lions got on the board first with a kill from
Jude Lewis followed by another kill from
Kyle Rees. But, the Saints would answer back going back and forth with the lead. But, the Saints would hold on and take the first set 25-18.
In the second set, the Lions could not find their groove offensively. Rees added 3 kills in the set but could not close the gap dropping the second set 25-16.
In the third set, The Mount got off to a hot start.
Ryan Bollhauer got the set started off right with a kill to give the Lions the advantage. A pair of kills from
Jude Lewis boosted the Lions lead to 15-8. But, the Saints would come tumbling back tying the score at 15 before taking the lead. Bollhauer and Lewis would again add to their total but the Lions could not hold on falling to Thomas More 26-24.
Jude Lewis led the Lions in kills with 7 while also adding 1 service ace.
Denzell Brown and
Kyle Rees folllowed Lewis with 4 kills each.
