Lions Impress at Friday Night Spikes hosted by Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - On Friday, February 3rd your Mount St. Joseph University Lions track and field team traveled to Rose-Hulman to compete at the Friday Night Spikes Meet. The Lions impressed earning 12 top 3 finishes on Friday night.

On the women's side Sydney Bell, Isabella Calhoun, Grace Holtmeier and Makiya Sherman earned a 3rd place finish in the 4x200M Relay with a time of 1:58.55. Calhoun also claimed 4th place in the 60M Hurdles with a personal best time of 10.97s. Londyn Frazier added her personal best in the Long Jump finishing in 4th place with a jump of 4.18M. Kaylyn Mullins tied her best mark of the year in Pole Vault finishing as the runner-up with a mark of 1.65M. Madalyn Hudnall continued the Lions success in the field events. Hudnall placed in 3 events including 3rd in Shot Put (10.42M), 6th in Weight Throw (10.78M) and 4th in High Jump (1.42M). Joining Hudnall in the throwing events was Jill Wilhelm. Wilhelm finished 4th in Shot Put with a mark of 10.27M and finished 7th in Weight Throw with a toss of 10.39M.

On the men's side Jalen Range and Josh Taylor got the meet started right for the Lions. Range finished 2nd in the 60M Dash with a time of 7.27s while Taylor finished in 6th with a time of 7.42s. Range also impressed in the 200M Dash finishing in 6th place with a time of 24.10s. Joining Range in the 200M Dash was Kyle Evers Smith and Chase Samples. Evers Smith finished with a personal best time of 24.01s which was good for 5th place. Samples finished in the top 3 in 3 different events including the 200M Dash. Samples finished 3rd with a time of 23.68s. He also claimed 2nd in the 400M Dash with an dominant time of 50.89s. Additionally, Samples was part of a 4x200M Relay including Kyle Evers Smith, Logan Runayn and Mekhi Jn-Baptiste that placed 2nd with a time of 1:38.87. Jacob Miller provided another runner-up finish for the Lions in the 800 Run with a time of 2:07.78.

The Mount was also impressive in the field events. Will Cissell earned a runner-up finish in High Jump with a jump of 1.72M. Dylan Hammons earned a personal best in Pole Vault with a mark of 2.90M which was good for 3rd Place. Decklan Brophy led the Lions throwers placing top 5 in both Shot Put and Weight Throw. Brophy finished 2nd in Shot Put with a throw of 12.71M. Fellow Lions Camden King and Cameron Young also joined Brophy in the top 5 finishing in 3rd and 5th respectively. In Weight Throw Brophy crushed his personal best with a throw of 12.21M earning him 5th place.
