FRANKLIN - Ind. - Over this past weekend your Mount St. Joseph University track and field team traveled to Franklin College to compete at the HCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Both the men's and the women's team finished 5th overall with 1 Lion taking home an award.
Justin Dreyling added another accolade to his resume earning HCAC Most Outstanding Jumps Athlete of the Year.
On the men's side
Justin Dreyling shined scoring the most points for the Lions over the weekend. Dreyling took home 1st Place in the Long Jump finishing with a jump of 7.04M. Dreyling's mark dominated the field as the next closest mark was measured at 6.55M. Dreyling wasn't done yet as he took 1st Place in the Triple Jump as well. Dreyling finished with a mark of 14.25M which again dominated the field beating out the 2nd Place finisher by over 1 meter. Dreyling also helped the Lions score in the 4x100M Relay. Kyle Evers Smith,
Elliott Warner and
Jalen Range as they combined for a 3rd Place finish with a time of 42.49s.
Will Cissell also scored for the Lions in the jump events. Cissell took home 6th Place in the High Jump event with a mark of 1.80M.
Dylan Hammons also looked impressive in the field events taking 4th Place in Pole Vault. Hammons finished with a mark of 3.25M just shy of his personal best. In the throws events, The Lions were represented well.
Jack Tucker reached a personal best in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 44.58M, taking 7th Place.
Decklan Brophy also scored for the Lions. Brophy nearly reach a personal best but finished 4th in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 43.16M.
Chase Samples scored points for the Lions on the track. Samples got started in the 200M Dash. Samples finished with a personal best time of 22.80s which earned him 7th Place. Samples also scored in the 400M Dash. Samples finished 3rd in the preliminaries but improved his time in the finals. Samples took home 2nd Place finishing with a time of 49.59s to close out his college career.
On the women's side
Ashley Klosterman and
Jill Wilhelm got the Lions started in the field events. Both ladies scored to start the meet in the Pole Vault event. Both tied for 5th Place with a mark of 2.06M. Wilhelm continued to score for the Lions taking 4th Place in the Discus Throw with a personal best mark of 37.90M.But, Wilhelm saved her best for last taking home 1st Place in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 38.95M. Joining her at the top was fellow Freshman
Madalyn Hudnall. Hudnall took 2nd Place in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 38.35M. But, that wasn't all for Hudnall as she scored in the Shot Put event as well. Hudnall took 7th Place in Shot Put with a mark of 10.98M.
In the running events, the Lions prospered again.
Ashley Klosterman continued her busy day for the Lions taking home 8th Place in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 17.85s. Joining her in the 100M Hurdles was Isabella Calhoun. Calhoun scored for The Mount taking 7th Place with a time of 17.80s. Klosterman continued to score for the Lions, this time in the 400M Hurdles. Klosterman found the podium taking 3rd Place in the event with a time of 1:08.23. Julia Gooding was solid for the Lions earning points in the 400M Dash. Gooding finished in 6th Place with a time of 1:03. 79. Klosterman finally finished her busy day closing out the meet in the 4x400M Relay. Joining Klosterman was
