Hanover, Indiana – On Saturday, March 30
th, your Mount St. Joseph University Track & Field team traveled to Hanover College to participate in the Hanover Invitational. The Lions landed 25 individual events in the top 8 with 5 of those events being personal best performances.
For the women's running events,
Grace Kruthaupt got the day kicked off with 2 top 8 performances on the day. Kruthaupt secured a 7
th place finish in the 100 M dash with a final time of 13.82 seconds along with an 8
thplace finish in the 100 M hurdles with a time of 18.76 seconds. Along with this,
Bella Calhoun finished her 100 M hurdles in 18.42 seconds landing her a 6
th place spot. Later in the day,
Julia Gooding had an impressive 800 M showing finishing in 5
th with a final time of 2:34.30. On the distance side of the track,
Kayla Hess ran a time of 5:20.97 getting her a 6
th place spot.
Moving along to the field events, the women had 4 different athletes secure 8 top 8 spots. For starters,
Asia Branch placed 4
th in discus with a farthest throw of 36.42 M and 7
th in shot put with a throw of 10.81 M.
Jill Wilhelm also showed out in the throwing events securing an 8
th place finish in discus along with a 3
rd place finish in the javelin throw. Wilhelm threw 32.38 M in discus and 37.47 M in javelin throw. Next, with an impressive 3 top 8 performances,
Madalyn Hudnall got 6
th in the hammer throw with a personal best throw of 37.32 M, 2
nd in the javelin throw with a distance of 37.72 M, and 4
th in shot put with a throw of 11.26 M. And last but not least,
Londyn Frazier secured a 7
th place spot in the triple jump with a jump of 8.57 M.
Looking at the men's running events,
Diego Yun had a great meet with 2 top 8 performances. Yun finished 7
thin the 100 M dash and 6
th in the 200 m dash with times of 11.24 seconds and 22.89 seconds.
Saien Wright also had a great day finishing 3
rd in the 110 M hurdle event with a final time of 16.27 seconds. Along with this,
Zach McKenna ran the 400 M in 53.52 seconds which secured him an 8
th place finish. In terms of distance events,
Alex Taft secured a 5
th place finish in the 5000 M run, and
Alex Schmidt finished 3
rd in the 10,000 M run. Taft finished with a time of 17:57.38 and Schmidt finished in 36:22.24.
In the field events, the Lions had 6 top 8 performances for the men.
Jack Tucker had a great day finishing in the top 8 in 2 different events including a 4
th place finish in the hammer throw and a 5
th place finish in the javelin throw. Tucker had personal best performances in both events with a best throw of 47.80 M in the hammer throw and 40.88 M in the javelin throw. Sticking with the throwing events,
Dylan Sebastian was the only Lion to secure a 1
st place finish at the Hanover Invitational. Sebastian had a personal best performance in the javelin throw with a throw of 47.78 M to secure that 1
st place finish. Moving to jumping events,
DeAndre Cowen kicked things off with a 6
th place finish in the high jump with his furthest jump being 1.75 M.
Jonny Volk also finished in 8
th place in long jump with a personal best jump of 5.79 M. And finally,
Dylan Hammons placed 5
th in the triple jump with a jump of 12.05 M.
