CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph Lions hosted Rose-Hulman today in an exciting Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match-up that went the full five sets. After a hard-fought battle, the Lions emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, improving their conference record to 3-0 and maintaining their undefeated status in HCAC play.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 3 – ROSE-HULMAN 2 (26-24, 20-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9)
The Lions showed tremendous resilience and determination in a back-and-forth contest. Junior Emma Sicking was a powerhouse offensively, tallying 21 kills on 69 attempts while contributing 11 digs on defense. Senior Hannah Graves also had a standout all-around performance with 16 kills on 47 swings and an impressive 19 digs.
Sophomore Aubrey Miranda added depth to the attack with 12 kills on 30 attempts. On the play making side, freshman setter Ava Moore directed the offense with 27 assists and added 10 digs, while sophomore Ginger Johnson provided 26 assists to keep the Lions' attack flowing. Anchoring the back row, libero Lyndsey Stephenson was a defensive force with 26 digs, providing stability and coverage throughout the match.
The Lions battled intensely in every set, ultimately closing out the fifth set 15-9 in front of their home crowd. Their relentless effort and teamwork were key factors in securing the hard-fought victory as they continue to build momentum in conference play.
