GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Mount St. Joseph Lions put together a strong performance on the road Wednesday night, battling through four competitive sets before falling to a tough DePauw squad. The Lions came out on top in the opening set and showcased several standout efforts throughout the match, continuing to build momentum deep into the season.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 1 - TIGERS 3 (28-26, 21-25, 19-25, 21-25)
The Lions set the tone early, securing a thrilling 28-26 win in the first set behind a balanced and aggressive offensive attack. Sophomore Aubrey Miranda powered the offense with 15 kills on 38 attempts, consistently finding ways to score through the DePauw block. Senior Hannah Graves continued her all-around impact with 11 kills on 29 attempts and a team-leading 18 digs, while sophomore Sydney Doty added 10 kills on just 22 swings in an efficient outing.
The setting duo of freshman Ava Moore and sophomore Ginger Johnson kept the offense flowing throughout the match, recording 21 and 20 assists respectively and distributing the ball effectively to MSJ's attackers. Defensively, libero Lyndsey Stephenson was a standout in the back row, racking up a match-high 27 digs and providing the Lions with consistent coverage on long rallies.
While the Lions couldn't secure the final sets, they remained competitive throughout and continued to show the depth, determination, and team chemistry that has been growing all season.
UP NEXT: Mount St. Joseph heads to Manchester on Friday, October 11th, for a 6:00 PM matchup. The Lions will look to carry their energy and execution into another key contest as the season progresses.
