CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph University women's volleyball team wrapped up their home regular season schedule on Tuesday night, hosting Transylvania University in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match up. The Lions fought hard through a competitive four-set battle but ultimately fell to the Pioneers, 1–3.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 1 – TRANSYLVANIA 3 (15-25, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25)
The Lions got off to a slow start in the opening set as Transylvania built early momentum and took the frame 25-15. Mount St. Joseph responded with resilience in the second, tightening up their serve receive and finding their offensive rhythm to claim a 25-21 win. The final two sets remained tightly contested, with the Lions staying within striking distance throughout before the Pioneers pulled away late to secure the victory.
Junior outside hitter Emma Sicking led the way offensively with a strong all-around performance, tallying 17 kills on 48 total attempts. Senior Hannah Graves continued her consistent play, posting 16 kills on 34 attempts and adding 10 digs for another double-double effort.
At the setter position, freshman Ava Moore and sophomore Ginger Johnson guided the offense efficiently, finishing with 22 and 17 assists, respectively. Johnson also contributed 10 digs, helping stabilize the back court defense. Libero Lyndsey Stephenson added 11 digs, providing steady ball control and keeping rallies alive against a tough Transylvania attack.
Although the Lions came up short, their determination and composure were evident as they pushed the Pioneers in each of the final three sets. Mount St. Joseph showed balanced offensive production and steady team chemistry throughout the match.
