PREVIEW | Women's Basketball Hosts Rose-Hulman in HCAC Tournament Opener

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team has earned a spot in the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and will host the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers in the Harrington Center Saturday, February 22nd at 4:00 pm. The Lions earned the #2 seed in the tournament after posting an 18-7 overall record and a 13-5 record in HCAC games this season. Rose-Hulman enters as the #7 seed after finishing 9-9 in HCAC play. They were one of four teams to finish with that record, but due to the league's tiebreaker rules, they fell to the #7 seed.

In two matchups between these two teams this season, the Lions are 2-0 and have won by an average of 10.5 points per game. Both teams enter the tournament riding high. The Lions won 7 of their last 8 games to close the regular season, while Rose-Hulman won their final two games to secure a tournament spot. Their most recent loss came at home to the Lions, 68-56, on February 12.

The Mount boasts a balanced offensive attack led by a trio of double-figure scorers: Anyiah Murphy, the team's leading scorer, averaging 14.3 ppg; Karlee Mills, with 13.9 ppg; and Madison Drummonds, who averages 12.0 ppg.

Rose-Hulman is led by one of the best individual performers in the HCAC, Jamie Baum. Baum is the second-leading scorer in the HCAC this season, averaging 16.5 ppg, and is also the team's leading rebounder.

The winner of this game will advance to the HCAC semi-finals next Friday. That game will be hosted by the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
