CARMEL, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph softball team lands six players on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-league team's released today. The MSJ softball team once again had a fantastic season after putting together a 28-14 overall record and a 12-6 record in league play, earning the second seed in the HCAC tournament.
A pair of Lions found their names among the first-team selections. Led by senior centerfielder
Emily McDonald, who put together the best offensive season in an MSJ uniform while continuing to be a lockdown defender. McDonald finished the season with a .383 average, 39 runs scored, 3 doubles, 22 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. Joining her on the first team was freshman infielder
Shelby Rakosky. Rakosky had an outstanding first season in the blue and gold, finishing with a .366 average, 11 doubles, 7 triples, 4 homeruns and 46 RBIs.
The Lions had four second team selections
Macy Cornelius, Mack Lawson,
Lesleigh Reimers and
Avery Wiltermood. Cornelius the teams left fielder and leadoff hitter wrapped up a stellar career with an outstanding season. She hit .342 on the year with 14 doubles, a triple, 34 RBIs, 22 walks and 23 stolen bases. Lawson played nearly every inning behind the plate for the team, all while hitting a team leading .402, with 7 doubles, 4 homeruns and 25 RBIs. Reimers was the teams top pitcher handling multiple roles, she appeared in 24 games with 7 starts, putting together an 11-1 record with a 2.23 ERA and 41 strikeouts across 91 innings. WIltermood rounds out the teams selections, the shortstop continued to play outstanding defense while also providing good production at the bottom of the team's lineup. For the year the sophomore hit .322 with 9 doubles, 23 RBIs and 6 stolen bases.
