WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia - The Mount St. Joseph women's golf team competed in the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship tournament at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia last week. It was the first time in program history that the Lions won a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament.
The tournament was played on two separate courses on the Kingsmill property, the Lions opened on Tuesday on the Plantation Course. Their first round ended up being split between Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather concerns.
Amy Smith fired in a first round 79, finishing at +7 for the day carding a birdie on the par 3 17th.
Debra Brogan was the second lowest Lion in the round with a 12-over 84, carding a birdie on the par-4 13th.
On day two they switched to the River Course, Smith continued to lead the way for the team. In the second round she poured in four birdies, all coming in on the back-nine. On that back nine she carded a 2-under 33, and finished the day +5. Brogan was nipping at her heals on day two, finishing 6-over with a 78.
Emma Winland, Liv Hoinke and Alyssa Perry rounded out the squad for Coach Tereshko in the event.
After two rounds the event was cut down to the top-15 teams. While the Lions missed the cut they wrapped up the finest season in school history. As a team they won a school record seven tournaments, and four individual titles. Aly Haverstraw won three tournaments while
Amy Smith won the HCAC championship.
