Mount baseball team defeats Bluffton University at home, 7-0

Lions' senior pitcher Ben Hunterman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) tossed a complete game tonight, helping to lead the College of Mount St. Joseph over Bluffton University, 7-0, in the opener of a three-game home HCAC series. The Mount, 8-7 overall, 1-0 in the HCAC, and winners of five straight, will host the Beavers on Mar. 26 in a doubleheader.

Hunterman allowed only four hits and two walks, while striking out nine batters in his nine-inning complete game, upping his 2011 record to 2-3. In addition, Hunterman added six assists as he controlled the Bluffton offense all game, allowing only two runners to reach third base. The Mount collected 12 hits in the game, as Jake Daugherty (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) led the way with four hits, including a triple, and two RBI. Josh Denny (Huntsville, AL/Flushing) and Trace Norton (Reading, OH/Reading) added two htis and two runs each.
