Mount baseball players Ben Hunterman and Josh Denny claim HCAC weekly honors

College of Mount St. Joseph baseball players Josh Denny (Huntsville, AL/Flushing) and Ben Hunterman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), who paced the Lions during a perfect 5-0 week have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Denny, a junior shortstop, finished 12-of-21 (.571) at the plate as the Lions went undefeated on the week, including a three game sweep of Bluffton in HCAC play. Denny scored six runs and added three doubles, a triple, a home run, and five RBI during the week.  The Huntsville, Alabama native posted an on-base percentage of .571 and a slugging percentage of .952 during the five game span. 

 

Hunterman, a senior pitcher tossed a complete game in a 7-0 win over Bluffton. He tossed nine shutout innings as the Lions handed the Beavers a 7-0 decision to open the HCAC schedule.  Hunterman allowed only four singles and two walks in the triumph, while striking out nine Bluffton batters.  He also limited BU to a .138 average at the plate during the Friday contest.
