Brandon Bouley (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton) tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout in game one today, as the Lions split a home doubleheader against Rose-Hulman, winning 5-0 and losing 10-2, taking two of three games this weekend against the Engineers. The Mount, 16-17 overall, 9-9 in the HCAC, on Apr. 26 when they host Earlham College.
Bouley held the Engineers' offense at bay in game one today as he stranded eight runners, walking three and recording four strikeouts to up his 2011 record to 5-2. Kyle Ottaway (Fairfield, OH/Farirfield) had two hits to lead the Lions' offense while Ben Stroube (North Bend, OH/St. Xavier) had two RBI. Rose-Hulman's two pitchers walked eight Mount players in the game.
The Lions led by a 2-1 margin at the end of the first inning, thanks to sacrifice flys by both Josh Denny (Huntsville, AL/Flushing) and Trace Norton (Reading, OH/Reading), but would be blanked the rest of the game as Rose-Hulman scored in six of the nine innings. The Mount had four hits in the game, including a double by Stroube. Six Mount pitchers allowed 14 hits and seven walks. George Raggets (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) suffered the loss in relief.
