Mount baseball team records 5-1 home win over HCAC-rival Earlham College

College of Mount St, Joseph starter Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) and reliever Cody Kirker (Bethel, OH/Bethel-Tate) combined on a one-hitter as the Lions defeated Earlham College, 5-1. The Mount, 17-17 overall, goes to 10-9 in the HCAC and will open a three-game conference home series on Apr. 29 against Anderson University.

Shaw evened his season record at 3-3 by going six innings against the Quakers, allowing just a single to open the game, six walks, one run and recording eight strikeouts. Kirker posted his first save of the season, going three scoreless and hitless innings, walking one and striking out five. The Mount led by a 2-1 advantage after three innings, and then added three more runs in the fourth inning.

John Pasquale (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) and Trace Norton (Reading, OH/Reading) keyed the Lions' 10-hit offensive attack, with each getting two hits. Norton also had two RBI.
