Lions baseball team wins 3-1 at home over Anderson University

Mount senior pitcher Ben Hunterman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) gave the Lions their second straight strong pitching effort, as the Lions posted a 3-1 home win over HCAC-rival Anderson University. The two teams will hook up for a doubleheader on Apr. 30 at the University of Cincinnati's Marge Schott Stadium. The Mount goes to 18-17 overall, 11-9 in the conference.

Hunterman turned in a complete game effort against the Ravens, allowing just a first inning run, seven hits and three walks while recording six strikeouts. The win enabled Hunterman to improve to 5-4 on the 2011 season. Hunterman pitched 1-2-3 innings from the fifth through the eighth innings.

The Mount tied the game at 1-all in the third inning when Ben Stroube (North Bend,OH/St. Xavier) had an RBI on an infield single. Justin Shelton (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) scored the go-ahead run for the Lions in the fourth inning, scoring on a throwing error. Sroube added an insurance run in the eighth.
