Lions' baseball team gets back to .500 overall with home win against Transylvania University

Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) pitched six shuout innings and the Mount offense pounded out 14 hits as the Lions ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Transylvania University at home, 10-5. The Lions, 11-11 overall, 4-3 in the HCAC, will resume action on Apr. 8 when they begin a three-game conference series at Franklin College. 

Shaw evened his record at 2-2 on the season by going six innings and allowing only three hits and four walks while strking out five. The Mount led by a 6-0 score entering the eighth inning when Transy cut the deficit to 6-5. The Lions, however, bounced back in the bottom of the frame, scoring four runs on four hits and a Pioneers error en route to the win.

Trace Norton (Reading, OH/Reading) led the Mount offense with four hits, including a double and a triple, two runs scored and two RBI while teammate Josh Denny (Huntsville, AL/Flushing) had three hits, including a double. Three other Lions' players had two hits each.
