Mount baseball team falls on road to Franklin College

The College of Mount St. Joseph plated two runs in the first inning today, but was held scoreless the remainder of the game as they dropped a 5-2 decision at Franklin College. The Lions, 11-12 overall, 4-4 in the HCAC, will play a doubleheader at Franklin on Apr. 9.

Josh Denny (Huntsville, AL/Flushing) had an RBI groundout, and teamate Trace Norton (Reading, OH/Reading) added an RBI single in first to stake Mount starter Ben Hunterman (Cincinnati, OH/OaK Hills) to a 2-0 lead but Franklin came back with a run in the second and three runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead. The host Grizzlies would add one more run in the fifth against Hunterman as he dropped to 2-4 on the season. The Lions, who left 10 runners on base in the game, collected six hits against three Franklin pitchers.

John Pasquale (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) and Ben Stroube (North Bend, OH/St. Xavier) led the offense with two hits each, while Craig Shanks (Erlanger, KY/St. Henry) had three walks.
