Mount men's lacrosse comeback attempt comes up short in a 15-14 setback at Aurora University

Box Score

Host Aurora University tallied a goal with just under 3 1/2 minutes to play, thwarting a stellar Mount comeback attempt as they posted a 15-14 MLC win. The Lions, 3-6 overall, 1-2 in the conference, returns to action on Apr. 4 when they host non-conference rival Wittenberg University.

Aurora University bolted out to a 3-1 lead in the game, half way through the first quarter, and held an 11-5 advantage at the intermission. They pushed their lead out to 14-7 by the end of the third quarter, setting the stage for the Mount's furious comeback. The Lions scored seven unanswered goals in the final quarter, with Chris Uselmann (Carmel, IN/Westfield) leading the scoring spurge with three goals. Uselmann's unassisted goal with 4:41 to play knotted the score at 14-all, but Aurora would net the go-ahead score, and eventual game-winner, just 1:18 later, leading to a win, their six in eight games this spring.

Uselmann led the Mount with five goals, and an assist, while teammates Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) and Mike Murphy (Crestwood, KY/South Oldham) had two goals each, while Anderson Morgan (Mason, OH/Moeller) chipped in three goals and three assists. Cody Nolan (Mason, OH/Mason) had seven saves in goal for the Lions.
