Mount women's lacrosse team loses hard-fought Senior Day game against conference-foe Trine University, 11-10

Visiting MWLC-rival Trine University took the lead with 1:04 to play and held off the Lions for the last minute of the game as they recorded an 11-10 win at Schueler Field on Saturday during Senior Day. The Mount, 3-7 overall, slips to 2-3 in the conference and will resume action on Apr. 22 when they host a non-conference game against Colorado College.

Trine led by a 6-5 advantage at the half, overcoming an early Mount 4-0 lead by scoring five unanswered goals at one point in the first half. The Thunder had a two-goal lead, 8-6 at the 17:22 mark of the second half, but saw the Mount rebound behind goals by Holly Hubble (Cincinnati, OH/Loveland) and Heather Scholle (Cincinnati, OH/Lakota West). A goal by Amanda Holmes (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) with 11:34 left in the game gave the Lions a 9-8 lead only to see the Thunder score the next two goals to go up, 10-9 with 5:12 to play. Scholle tied the game at 10-all with 3:24 to play in the game - the Lions final goal of the game.

Scholle had four goals in the game, while Chrissy O'Hara (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy) added two goals and two assists. Amanda Varnam (Akron, OH/Stow Munroe Falls) also had two goals. The Lions had a 33-32 in shots. Paige Apel (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) had 13 saves for the Mount.

The Mount honored the following seniors before the game: Scholle, Holmes, Varnam, Elyse Minges (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy), Jennifer Fawns (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton Badin), and Chelsey Siefke (West Harrison, IN/East Central).
