The Mount men's soccer team's 2013 season came to and end on Saturday afternoon on Schueler Field, as the Lions dropped a 1-0 closely contested game to Earlham College. The Lions finish the campaign with a 3-16 overall mark, 2-7 in the HCAC (tied for 8th place).
The Quakers scored the game's lone goal in the 54th minute of play, and made it standup for the win, their 11th overall and seventh in the conference. Earlham, the HCAC champion, out-shot the Lions, 13-10, and held an 8-2 lead in shots on goal. THe Mount had six corner kicks to the visitor's three corner kicks. Austin Cagle (Independence, Ky/Simon Kenton) had seven saves in goal for the Lions.
The Mount honored five seniors at halftime of the game. They were: Shane Hall (Louisville, KY/Trinity), Bryson Lewis (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester), Jake Nelson (Batavia, OH/Batavia), Shayne Bateman (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), Matthew Dunkin (Georgetown, OH/Georgetown).
