The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team finished the regular season with a 6-9-3 overall record and a 4-3-2 record in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. The Lions struggled early in the season during their non-conference slate, starting 0-6-1. After those early challenges, the Mount rebounded to close the season with a 6-3-2 run, including a 4-3-2 conference record. The Lions finished fifth in the HCAC regular-season standings and will travel to Bluffton University on Saturday, November 1, at 7 p.m.
The Mount was led offensively by freshman Brennan Lewis, who scored nine goals and added one assist. Sophomore Brady Diedenhofer and junior Presley Boyle were also key offensive contributors for the Lions, with Diedenhofer scoring eight goals and recording one assist, while Boyle tallied six goals and two assists. The Lions' defense was anchored by freshman goalkeeper Carson Sabers, who recorded 79 saves and two shutout victories on the season. Senior Michael Smith and freshman Collin Schneeman were also key contributors on the defensive end, helping the Mount find success in conference play.
In their final regular-season match, the Mount fell to Bluffton 3-2 on the road in Bluffton, Ohio. The Beavers' offense came out strong, scoring three goals in the first half. The Lions responded in the second half, finding the back of the net twice in the first ten minutes. Despite taking ten more shots in the half, the Mount couldn't find the equalizer and ultimately fell 3-2.
